What is the role of a fitness instructor
As a gym instructor, you will have the responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of people in the fitness environment. A fitness instructor uses understanding of the anatomy and physiology to provide the best exercise an health advice for the people they instruct.
A fitness instructor will have detailed knowledge on the different types of exercise, how to perform the exercise safely and effectively and how to instruct exercise to a range of people from all walks of life. The role of the fitness instructor is crucial to any health, fitness and sporting environment as they will be able to help the athlete or the client to adhere to their training programme.
An exercise and fitness has a real responsibility for the welfare and well being of those they advise. Shift work is common and it will not be a normal 9-5 job. However, this is all for the greater good of those you advise and train. The greater good is that you will see clients get healthier and fitter. In short, they will see results!
With regards to career progression, you will soon want to start making money and that is when you will need to take your learning to the next level. You can also progress to becoming a personal trainer.
About this course
The Level 2 Certificate in Gym instructing is designed to provide you with the skill and competencies to allow you to enter a career and exercise and fitness instructor.
You will learn through a range of theory based online and blended learning whilst also developing your skills with using different prices of gym equipment whilst effectively instructing others in the how use the gym equipment to effectively target the muscle or other training goals.
You will learn about the principles of human anatomy and physiology, learn how to deliver exercise to a range of different people from different demographics and you will learn principles of training and exercise whilst learning how to design training programs.
