The OCNLR Awards aims to help learners understand what is meant by a variation of health and well-being programmes and aid learners to recognise their own personal responses to new social, environmental and emotional situations, and learn ways of developing and raising awareness to their health and well-being.  

The awards are useful for people who want to develop their own health and well-being in their personal or professional lives. The OCNLR qualification aims to develop an understanding of lifestyle choices and other factors that relate to, and impact on, health and wellbeing. It provides learners with a greater awareness of the many facets of health and wellbeing whether in a personal, professional or voluntary capacity and may be applied in a variety of contexts such as work, education, leisure, and in the community.

OCNLR awards will help to raise awareness in the workplace and make a healthy and productive environment for employers, employees, students and educational providers. It creates a respectful and responsive environment. The awards build a foundation for lifelong learning.

Flexibility of the course

The Course is highly flexible and contains assessed learning outcomes, purposeful course content, and teaching methods, assessment for the course, and support for a specific and targeted audiences. The Course responsibilities provides the audience with information about what they can expect from the course and what is expected of them as they undertake the course if they wish to complete the qualification. The course will be delivered over a number of specific guided hours in order to access one credit value.

Programme Outcomes

This in return will acknowledge their personal achievement, thereby providing a sense of achievement and increasing motivation to continue learning and progress to further courses and workshops. By providing such individual Awards to the audience this will enable maximum flexibility appropriate to their circumstances, interests and preferences. The topics covered at Youthology and SFE Academy, will raise greater confidence for the audience and a positive approach to lifelong learning. With a further range from awareness of health and wellbeing, to diet and exercise, sleep, stress management, emotional resilience, mental health, body image and social media, as well as additional informal workshops to develop a range of skills and knowledge. The Awards offered is intended to enhance the personal growth and possible future employability.

The programme outcomes have a range of skills that will provide a foundation of the knowledge and understanding of building on health and well-being effectively. As well as provide practical skills in social, environmental and emotional situations. All learners are able to apply and extend their knowledge to accommodate their skills learnt. They will manage and develop in a confident manner to understand their own needs and that of others.

Progression Routes

The qualification is one of 16 single-unit Awards nested in the OCNLR Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health and Wellbeing qualifications. As well as inter related workshops to develop additional skills.


You may also want to consider Level Two Awards. This qualification has been developed as a natural progression to provide learners further personal growth and understanding or training for employment, or for those already employed in the educational or healthcare sector, with the opportunity to develop skills which support their individual needs. It has also been developed as part of the learner’s personal preparation for further lifelong learning.

The course is reflective of the demands of society and its pressures. Both personal and work life. The course provides a foundation for enabling and empowering learners to develop their own health and well-being in their personal or professional lives.

The OCNLR qualifications aims to develop a greater understanding to the demands of life. It will develop strategies that learners may utilise to strengthen or raise awareness. The awards are also reflective on an understanding of lifestyle choices and other factors that relate to, and impact on, health and wellbeing. It provides learners with a greater holistic approach to health and wellbeing whether in a personal, professional or voluntary capacity and may be applied in a variety of contexts such as work, education, leisure, and in the community.

This Award is useful for learners who wish to progress onto further courses and to be a part of the Youthology and SFE Academy community and ethos.

The Awards aim to raise awareness of mental health issues and how to foster good mental health and wellbeing. The aim is to remove the stigma of mental health by providing an understanding of issues surrounding it. The qualifications are useful for all people who have contact with the general public through everyday living, including carers, both in domestic and residential care settings, and those providing public services, such as, education, housing, transport and retail, both in employed and voluntary capacities.

Award in Awareness of Health and Wellbeing aims to provide learners with an understanding of what is meant by ‘health and wellbeing’ and the lifestyle choices and factors that can affect it. This Award is useful for people who want to know more about the topic for themselves or others, in a personal, professional or voluntary capacity.

Body Image and the Media aims to help learners understand how images of people are portrayed through the media, how the media can influence their own body image, and the cultural differences of how people are portrayed. This Award is useful for people who want to know more about the topic for themselves or others, in their personal or professional lives.

Developing Assertive Behaviour aims to help learners understand what assertive behaviour is, distinguish between assertive, passive and aggressive behaviour, understand how to be assertive and the need for self-control, and the benefits of assertiveness in achieving results.This Award is useful for people who want to develop assertive in their personal or professional lives.

Developing Emotional Resilience aims to help learners understand what is meant by ‘emotional resilience’, recognise their own personal responses to new social, environmental and emotional situations, and learn ways of developing emotional resilience.This Award is useful for people who want to develop their own emotional resilience in their personal or professional lives.

Developing Healthy Relationships and Respect aims to help learners understand what is meant by ‘healthy relationships’, the factors that affect relationships, the key features of effective communication, and the values and attitudes which help develop healthy relationships and respect for others.This Award is useful for people who want to enhance their capacity to develop healthy relationships and respect in their personal and professional lives.

Developing Personal Confidence and Self Awareness aims to help learners understand the reasons for feeling confident or unsure of themselves, how to participate more effectively in social situations and manage stress, and how to set goals that increase their self-confidence.
This Award is useful for people who want to develop self-confidence and self-awareness in their personal or professional lives.

Stress and Stress Management Techniques aims to help learners recognise the symptoms of stress, know about the possible causes of stress, the benefits of relaxation and how to practice relaxation techniques, and other coping strategies.This Award is useful for people who want to know more about the topic and improve their stress management in their personal or professional lives.

Understanding the Effects of Sleep on Health aims to help learners understand the factions of sleep, the relationship between sleep and health and wellbeing, and the impact on sleep deprivation and how to address it.This Award is useful for people who want to know more about the topic and improve their sleep habits in order to achieve effective sleep.

Understanding Personal and Interpersonal Conflict aims to help learners know about commonly occurring conflicts, the causes of conflict, negative and positive outcomes of conflict, understand the emotions and physical responses to conflict and be able to recognise behaviours that affect conflict.This Award is useful for people who want to know more about the topic and improve their ability to deal with, and avoid, personal and interpersonal conflict in their personal or professional lives.

Understanding the Importance of a Balanced Diet and Regular exercise aims to help learners understand the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise to a healthy lifestyle.This Award is useful for people who want to know more about the topic in a personal or professional capacity.

Informal workshops weekday and weekend (day or evening), are also available to meet the needs of your organisation. Available to pupils, parents and employers/employees. All workshops have clear learning outcomes, group activities, resource pack to take up and SFE Award Certificate of participation.

 

Confidence and Raising Self Esteem

Aims to help learners understand what is meant by ‘self-esteem’ and recognise their own personal development and self-worth. Enabling learners how to raise their self-esteem and activities to build confidence.

Anger Management

Aims to help learners recognise their triggers and the impact caused. Exploring the types of anger and reflect on the possible causes of anger. Learners will develop strategies and understand the benefits of coping techniques. 

Managing Behaviour and Conflict issues

Aims to help learners know about commonly occurring conflicts, the causes of conflict, negative and positive outcomes of conflict, understand the emotions and physical responses to conflict and be able to recognise behaviours that affect conflict.

 Emotional Wellbeing

Aims for learners to understand the link to mood, emotions and stress and managing positive day to day techniques for management and prevention of stress. To develop a personal development plan to control and prevent behaviours. 

Mindfulness

Aims to understand the term ‘mindfulness’ and how it can promote positive and healthy mental well-being. Create self-assessments on how to be more mindful in our daily lives, exploring different mindful techniques and practicing very simple techniques to become more mindful.

Effective Communication Skills

Aims to understand the broad term of ‘communication’ and how effective and ineffective communications works. Exploring the value of active listening and responding, positive verbal and non-verbal communication. Increasing confidence at work or social environments and managing difficult people or situations. To develop an individualised communication toolkit.

Active Listening Skills

Aims to enable learners to understand the term ‘active listening’ and how to encompasses the best of communication, including listening, processing and responding, clarifying and elicit more information. Learners will develop and practice effective and active listening skills.
